Please join us Wed., Sept. 10
from 10am-12pm for Christmas Stocking inspiration.
We will have a wonderful display of Knitted Christmas Stockings made by
Judy Lacks

Judy is a mother, grandmother, wife, artist, musician, and lifelong knitter, who could
never quite follow the directions.  Her current passion is for creating Christmas
stockings as keepsakes but usable gifts.  New grand children and friends need a
special gift, and this has become it for Judy.

They come enclosed with this card:

"Miles, and smiles,
and even generations
are bridged,
when we recreate traditional joys,
and carry them into the future."

She used the book "Knit Your Own Christmas Stocking", which we have available to
purchase as a jumping off point, but adds:
Her own sense of design
Charts from the internet
Spreadsheets to customize fonts
Flannel/fleece lining and stability
She will share all these ideas with you and inspire you to get started on your own
Christmas stockings! Please join us!

This weeks recipe is from Barb, one of our owners. Barb's husband, Ken, had to
work late so instead of going out for dinner, she threw together stuff she had on
hand. (Sound familiar?)  Ken loved it! This is so true! Sometimes last minute meals
turn out to be family favorites! Thanks Barb!

This week we received so many blankets for Project Linus. Thanks to all of you who
donated including  Maurine Van Huis and Deanne Lynema.  These blankets will be
loved by all who receive them.

Thanks to everyone who brought in "stuffies" this month! We received 132! That is
so great.  This brings our yearly total this year to 400 - it's amazing what we can do
when we all work together!
Again Thank You!

Country Needleworks is happy to join with the Department of Human Services to
collect Beanie Babies or other small stuffed animals for children entering foster care.
The stuffies will be given to children who are being removed from their home due to
neglect or abuse. This gives them a comfort object to hold while they are driven to
their new foster home.

Beanie Baby type "stuffies" are easily washed and stored, so they would be
preferred, but the brand name does not matter. New or gently used are fine. It
doesn’t matter if the tags are still attached.

Donations made to the Department of Human Services are tax deductible, so if you
have a large collection you would like to donate please contact Wendy Wheeler (Jerri’
s daughter) and she can arrange for you to get a receipt. or

Thank you for bringing a smile to the face of a child during a very difficult time.
