We have two more classes starting this week. Both classes are Continental Knitting.
For those of you who may not be familiar with this type of knitting, here is an explanation for you:
If you want to learn how to knit continentally this class is for you. Beginner or not, this is an
opportunity to add speed and consistency to your gauge. During this one hour class you will
learn the basics you need to start knitting continentally. Sometimes this method is referred to as
"picking" or "European style". The left hand holds the yarn to create the correct tension. This
style of knitting allows you to knit faster while also reducing hand and wrist fatigue.
For more information on dates, times, etc. on this, please click on this link:

THIS WEEKS RECIPE
This weeks recipe is from Barb, one of our owners. This is probably the most requested recipe
we have ever posted. I make these so many times in the summer because everyone seems to
love them! If you are asked to bring a dish to pass, this is my all time "go to dish". I have
received many calls to repeat this recipe. So here is the recipe for the best baked beans ever!
BARB'S BAKED BEANS
1 large glass jar of Great Northern Beans
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/2 cup catsup
1 can fried onion rings
2 T. vinegar
2 T. Molasses
1 1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 lb. bacon, fried and crumbled
Combine above ingredients and put in 2 quart casserole and cover. Bake for 2 hours at 350º.
Not only are these delicious, they are quite easy to make! Enjoy!

This week we received an bag full of cute "stuffies" for foster kids! Thank you so much!
These bring so much joy to these children!
"STUFFIES" FOR KIDS
Country Needleworks is happy to join with the Department of Human Services to collect Beanie
Babies or other small stuffed animals for children entering foster care. The stuffies will be given to
children who are being removed from their home due to neglect or abuse. This gives them a
comfort object to hold while they are driven to their new foster home.
Beanie Baby type "stuffies" are easily washed and stored, so they would be preferred, but the
brand name does not matter. New or gently used are fine. It doesn’t matter if the tags are still
Donations made to the Department of Human Services are tax deductible, so if you have a large
collection you would like to donate please contact Wendy Wheeler (Jerri’s daughter) and she can
arrange for you to get a receipt. email@example.com or 616 558-7841
Thank you for bringing a smile to the face of a child during a very difficult time.
