| Cards for soldiers |
| Hello, We are Pamela and Christopher Rowan We make cards all by hand for the soldiers in Iraq and also those who have been sent home with life altering injuries in the hospitals here in the states. They are hand delivered to their bedsides with love. We started this project in Jan. 2007 with one goal in mind, to reach as many soldiers as possible and let them know we care about them. 46% of all active duty personnel do not receive anything from home. When we heard this and researched this, our 9 year old Christopher was determined that we should act. We are blessed to have this opportunity to serve those who put themselves in harms way everyday. Although we have used up our own savings to see this project get up and running, and funds are an issue. our dedication and commitment are not. We have requests from officers in Iraq for cards for their units. They get new recruits or some who have been there awhile get down and a lot of them are homesick, they see things everyday that you and I can't even imagine, we need to seriously let them know there's more to this world than just war, they need to know that their are people and business' that do care about them, That doesn't mean we are for war by no means, It just means the we care about them it's all about them, that they are in our thoughts. Through product donations so we can make them cards, or prayers. If there was ever a time people needed people its now and it's an opportunity for us all. Help us to meet this opportunity, please... In March we are hoping to send off another 500 cards. That will bring us to over 2800 cards since our mission started. But we need help to continue. We need help getting a few supplies. Supplies are really low and we are soon going to be out much needed basics and may not be able to continue our work. This is how you can help us care for them. We make our cards out of scrapbooking materials and we are in need of paper, card stock, embellishments, stickers, markers and adhesives that will adapt to climate changes etc.... Any designs will do. We try and keep them bright and cheery and with uplifting messages We would also like to use stamps on our cards. I have rhuematoid arthritis and writing is getting impossible for me. Our Christopher does the writing but I think that stamps would be more helpful for me and him as his little hand get really tired. We usually put a hand written scripture verse in each one. sticker would be great for this also, but the stamps would be so helpful They don't need to be new, even old stock or used will work even slightly damaged. We are willing to accept anything to keep us going! This project is very near and dear to hearts. Although we don't have family members in this war, we do know of a lot of them through our church and friends. As well as doing it to honoring those who gave their lives in this war and the past wars,( My son's grandfathers were in WWII. My father and father-in-law) We do really appreciate how much or how little you could give us. We have heard from numerous soldiers, about how getting a handmade card from people they don't even know really helps to lift their spirits. They need us, and we need to do this for them. We go by M.A.N.A. Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force. . Thank you for your consideration. We hope that you will take this opportunity to let us continue our work!. Blessings: Pamela and Christopher Rowan 1215 Maplewood Dr. Jenison, MI 49428 Any donations can be dropped off here at the store and we will be sure Pam gets them - Thank you! |
