| 2010 BLOCK OF THE MONTH |
| Pattern: The Great American Afghan Starts Sat., Jan. 9, 10-11:30am We wil be doing 12 blocks, 1 skein per block, with some blocks requiring more than on color. Yarn: Cascade 220, regular or superwash, Encore, any worsted weight yarn. Must be purchased at Coutntry Needleworks Needles: Book suggests different sizes and types for each block Classes: One class, 1 1/2 hour per month, a new technique each class Things you need to know: 1. Each class is free, a new technique will be taught at each class. 2. Yarn must be purchased at Country Needleworks - no exceptions 3. At the monthly class, 1 or 2 skeins of yarn needed for that month's block, will be 25% off. There will be no returns on this yarn and it will be marked as such. 4. If all 14 skeins of yarn for the blocks are purchased at the beginning of the classes, they will be 25% off. There will be no returns on this yarn and it will be marked as such. 5. Attendance is not required, however, because of the difficulty of the blocks, instruction will only be available at the time of the class. 6. You may attend as many classes as you like in the month. We will only offer instruction on the block of the month or the previous month. We will not be giving instruction on future blocks or blocks not on our list. 7. We will have door prizes for each class every month. 8. At the end of the year we will have a "finishing" party and we'll celebrate with treats, pictures of the blankets and drawing for some great door prizes. Each class you will fill out a slip for the monthly door prize and these will be kept until the "big drawing" at the end. The more you come to the classes, the better your chances of winning. 9. We will order yarn and hold it as we have in the past, but, we cannot guarantee we will order colors or yarns we do not usually carry. Ask, we will try hard to work with you on this. |
| Needed for the class Pattern - The Great American Afghan, Leisure Arts Yarn - can be any worsted weight yarn. There are a couple of blocks requiring more than one color, but otherwise it is approximately 1 skein per block. Can be all one color or different colors as you wish. Needles - there are several sizes of needles suggested in the book. It would be best to have them on hand or to purchase them before the class. Miscellaneous - stitch markers, cable needles, sttich holders, measuring tape or ruler, scissors, crochet hook or other implement to pick up stitches that might go wandering, some method to keep track of rows and a smile! After the first class it will be helpful, to you, to have started the block and have the first rows of garter stitch finished. Then we can go straight to the fun part! |
