2012 Month by Month Knitting
Country Needleworks

This year we will be doing a series of smaller projects for our knit-a-longs.
There will be groups on Monday evenings at 6:00 PM and Wednesday mornings
at 10:00 AM each month.
Even if there is nothing “scheduled” for a certain Monday or Wednesday,
you are welcome to come in and knit and discuss your progress of the projects.

We’ll have something new each month, something for everyone. If you’re a
knitting newbie, who only knows how to knit and purl or a more advanced
challenge seeker,  we have something for you.

We will present 2 projects each month, one of which  is “short and sweet”
(this does not mean easy necessarily), and one  needing time and patience (this
does not mean difficult).  You can decide what you want to do and we will be
there to support you or teach you the new techniques.

For your efforts we will be offering a 20% discount on the project materials
purchased at the time of the scheduled session.  This will be available only at the
time we introduce the project.  Discount can be applied  to the required yarn,
needle and pattern (if applicable).  This will be for the projects presented that month only, and only at the times
scheduled.  You may choose to do either or
both and get the discount for what you pick.  There will be no returns on these
items.

As in years past, we will also be having coffee, water, treats, door  prizes
and a good time.  Of course, we’ll have a party at the end of the year, to show off
your work.

Join us for as many knit-a-longs as you can.  It won’t be as much fun
without you.
You do need to attend every session, but there will be a new
project (or 2) offered and discussed each time.
(we will have time to discuss previous projects too, if there are
questions or concerns)
Please remember, the only time we can offer the 20% off on all
materials needed, will be when we introduce the new project
LOVING LACE

We will be working on lace this month.
Don't be intimidated by lace. Lace looks much more difficult than it really is.  We
will help you experience the fun of a lace project without tears.  Or at least not
too many!
We have 2 projects so you can decide how much lace you want in your life.

Project 5 and 6 are both shown on these days
Monday, March 5                         6-7:30PM
      Wednesday, March 7                    10-11:30AM

TOPIARY

Lace and Cable Wrap

Topiary can be done as a scarf, medium wrap or large wrap, each will show off the beautiful lace and cable
work.  We will be using the pattern by Michele Wang, which has all 3 sizes.

Needed for class:

  • For scarf: 375 yards of worsted weight yarn;  for medium wrap 725 yards worsted weight yarn;  for
large wrap: 1050 yards worsted weight yards

  • Size 8 knitting needles, either straight or circular (or size to get gauge)

  • Size 7 knitting needles, either straight or circular (one size smaller than gauge needle)

  • Cable hook

  • Tapestry Needle, stitch markers, blocking wires are recommended.

PERMAFROST

Permafrost begins in the center (with a special circular cast on) and is shaped outward to the edges.
For the center section there is a "free" round of plain knitting every other row. (to relax) There is a
knitted on edge to finish it off. No huge bind off! We will be using the pattern by Jared Flood.

    Needed for class:

  • Approximately 1300 yards of fingering weight (sock) yarn
  • 1 set double point needles, one 32" and one 40" circular (optional)
needle, size 6. (or size to obtain gauge)
  • Stitch markers, (at least 7), tapestry needle, optional crochet hook for
    working the circular cast on.
